Valentine’s Day is one of the easiest holidays to make someone feel special. The biggest misconceptions about Valentine’s Day are that it only pertains to couples and you need to be in-love. However, this doesn’t have to be the case! Just because you are single doesn’t mean you have to be in fetal position sobbing to the Notebook with one hand in a bag of Spicy Nacho Doritos and the other in a box of Oreos. Make it your mission this year to brighten someone’s Valentine’s Day.

How to achieve a successful Valentine’s Day:

DON’T: FORGET!

DO: Plan a sufficient amount of time to do something thoughtful.

DON’T: Do what you did last year- even if it worked for you, just don’t.

DO: Try something new! Do a little of your own research to find the perfect date.

DON’T: Buy her lingerie. It is highly offensive if you get the wrong size.

DO: Buy candies, flowers, jewelry, even throw in a stuffed animal. Be that guy or girl.

DON’T: Ask your best friend’s girl friend to be your Valentine.

DO: Ask out someone new! Take a friendship to the next level.

DON’T: Bring up an EX. You will spend the rest of the night alone.

DO: Spark a good conversation. Avoid awkward silence.

DON’T: Drink or eat yourself into a coma. It is normal to be single on Valentine’s Day.

DO: Grab dinner and/or a movie with some friends.
