There have been many changes happening around the NYIT athletic department this past year. For NYIT Men’s Basketball, the team will be led by new head coach Kevin Hamilton. Coach Hamilton comes to NYIT with a previous background of being a collegiate and professional player. In his four seasons at Iona, he helped bring the Gaels to an 84-31 overall record, two NCAA tournament appearances, and was named to the college’s Hall of Fame.

The Bears are off to a vigorous start with early morning and afternoon workouts helping prepare them for this upcoming season. With several returning players and even more added to the roster, they are well prepared to succeed this upcoming season. With two players coming back from season ending injuries, they are the two most anticipated players heading into this year. Jon Feiler is coming back off an ACL knee injury. As a junior, he was one of the team members who scored 325 points and was also ninth in NCAA Division II along with 2nd in the ECC in rebounding. As a freshman, Hayden started in 13 games and had an average of 15.7 points per game. He was also named ECC rookie of the week three times before suffering a season ending injury.

“I’m very excited to have the chance to play with Jeffrey Hayden again,” said Jon Feiler.

Both players are coming back ready to win this season. There are new players coming from all over which include D1 transfer Walter King, and Domonic Josephs from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M. The Bears are more than prepared for this season with a great coaching staff behind them.
