The NYIT Men’s Tennis team started off the season strong.  They have accumulated a significant amount of wins in their past years and are looking to continue its success this season. Led by Coach Pasion, the team is looking to make an even bigger statement this season.

As of March 29th, the team has been dominating as they have won every match of their spring season.  There first match this season was against Youngstown State, as they pulled through with a 6-3 victory.  Both Jorge Gonzales Soler and Matej Selecky gave the Bears the lead as they defeated Yossi Dahan and Hugo Morth 8-3 in the opening match.  The Bears also took command in singles and were crowned victorious in 4 out of the six matches.

“I believe the strongest part of the team is the family like atmosphere we have as a team.  The players are truly “brothers” They look out after each other.  They help each other on and off the tennis court.  During matches and at practices they all support each other,” said Coach Pasion.

On March 7th, the Bears had their first ever victory against ASA College. Nicolas Auruccio and Tomas Lieb were the first of the team to earn a point as they conquered their counterparts. Selecky was named ECC player of the Week 3 of the season and came up clutch to defeat ASA College. The Bears dominate all of their opponents by a minimum of three points and reaching a high of 7 points!

However, the Bears have struggled a little bit in their past three matches. After losses to Barry, Lynn and Rollin College, the Bears are looking to rebound in their upcoming matches. However, with their track record, that should not be a problem as the Bears are capable of coming back from this little slide.
