You may have noticed that the baseball field has had some recent improvements (if you’ve ever ventured to that part of campus). Anthony Bolomo Sr. who attended St. Johns University and is CEO of a malpractice firm called Physicians Reciprocal Insurers (PRI), made a generous donation that helped fund the new developments. Mr. Bolomo is close friends with Robert Malvagna, who is the head baseball coach at NYIT. They both attended St. Johns University together and because of their connection Mr. Bolomo became interested in improving the baseball field. Mr. Malvagna has been coaching baseball for twenty five years, the last ten consisting of college baseball. He wants to make sure Anthony Bolomo’s kindness does not go unnoticed stating, “I want Mr. Bolomo to know how thankful and appreciative I am for the program and for him personally, and I value his friendship more than anything else.” The baseball field will be officially unveiled at a baseball dedication ceremony taking place on Saturday April 5, 2014 at 11 a.m. The ceremony will consist of the naming of the new baseball facility, Angelo Lorenzo Memorial Baseball field, named after Anthony Bolomo’s father in law, who passed away. The unveiling of the field will be followed by a VIP reception and a double header game with NYIT’s baseball team against NJIT. Looking forward to the ceremony Mr. Malvagna expresses his enthusiasm, “I think this field is a tremendous accomplishment, a premiere facility on campus and I don’t know where I would have gotten without Anthony’s support.” The new field consists of a new artificial surface, state of the art scoreboard, new dugouts and a brand new press box. Two bronze plaques will be presented, one with Angelo Lorenzo’s name on it and the other consisting of the other donors. This baseball game will be the first home weekend game of the season so take a break from studying and come support the baseball team!
