The NYIT community is mourning the sudden loss of its alumnus and staff member Abderrahmane “Ab” Zemirline who passed away on February 15 at the age of 31.

Ab began his studies at NYIT’s former Jordan campus in 2010 and completed his B.A. degree in Business Administration-Finance at NYIT-Old Westbury in 2012. He then went onto earn his M.B.A. in 2015 at NYIT-Manhattan and started a temporary full-time job as an international student program coordinator in our international education department in fall 2016.

“Ab is one of the most extraordinary individuals I’ve met in a long time,” said Amy Bravo on LinkedIn, NYIT Career Advisor. “His work with our Internship Certificate Program has enabled us to grow in size while retaining program and data integrity. His knowledge of various cultures and numerous spoken languages opens doors for us to reach and assist more students and employers. He has made an indelible mark in our operations.”

Ab enjoyed working in the field of international affairs because he loved business and he spoke five different languages. At the end of 2016, he found his calling as a higher educational professional.

Ab was known for his joyous spirit, infectious laugh and his dedication to fellow students, especially international students. He was well loved by students and staff because of all his great qualities and his survived by his parents.

All messages to his family can be sent to Amy Bravo, abravo@nyit.edu.
