I hope that everyone is enjoying the semester so far as October has come and gone a quick pace this year. We continue to look back on the impactful stories The Campus Slate had to offer throughout the 50 years and sharing memories of alumni who have worked on this publication.
For our #SlateThrowback this issue, we look back to October 13th 1970. Jonathan Shelley wrote about NYIT developing programs for businessman who desire to pursue a college degree and are looking for career advancement. For our #SlateMemory, my brother and former Editor in Chief John Santamaria looks back on his time with The Campus Slate and how it impacted him during his time at NYIT.
Election Day is around the corner and DON’T FORGET TO VOTE. The debates have begun and it has already caused a stir between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump which begs the question, who do you want to vote for? With social media become more involved in our society, how will it impact how we watch live sporting/entertainment events? Be sure to check out our review for next Wednesday’s Free Movie Flick “Fatal Attraction,” a 1987 film starring Michael Douglas.
In sports, Women’s Tennis is dominating on all cylinders as we get to know junior transfer Lena Dimmer and how she is settling in with the team. Cross Country has finished in the top ten throughout September as they look to keep it going throughout the season with the help from senior Tom Ruppel and freshman Irene Chepleting.
